Super Mario Party

08 March 2010
Remember a few weeks ago when I posted ideas for a Super Mario Birthday Party?  Well, I'm back with eye candy of the actual party that took place this weekend.  And let me tell you, Miss Stephanie took each idea & OUTDID herself with all of the details.  It was spectacular.  But don't take my word for it, see for yourself.

The Invitations
The inspiration came from these invitations.  Stephanie cut out and assembled all of the invitations by hand.  The needed information was added to simple white cardstock on the back side of the {removable} 1-up mushroom & question box and the Koopalings {JHB's fave} clip art along the bottom carried the theme through.

The Decor
Red & green baseball hats were purchased {at the Dollar store!} and decorated with white felt circles with M {for Mario} and L {for Luigi} cut out & hot glued on.  A hat, mustache, & mini coloring pages waiting at each place setting for the kids table.  Stephanie had everything fitting the theme, even the yellow STAR paperclips holding the coloring pages together.  Markers & colored pencils awaited the kids along with gold coins along the table.

Adult tables were covered in black & had Stephanie's take on the famous piranah plants.  It was a red tulip sticking straight out of florists foam in a green cup!  The circles were laminated Super Mario clip art, more gold coins, & snack mix, along with mustaches for the adults too.

I also loved that she included photos of Jackson at each of his previous birthdays.

The Activities & Games
As I said in the decor section, each place setting had markers, colored pencils, and a cute pack of coloring pages to keep everyone occupied while they were seated.

The Yoshi eggs {white eggs purchased & colored dots added with a sharpie} were filled with more gold coins, one with a W on it.  The winner took home a Super Mario Movie Madness dvd.

A Mario party wouldn't be complete without wii video games to play.  Two stations were set up for the kids to challenge each other to a game of Super Mario.

The Menu, Candy Bar, & Desserts
To keep it simple, the menu consisted of pizza {sliced into squares} because Luigi & Mario are italian!  Stephanie also had a selection of appetizers like a veggie tray, hummus, crackers & cheese cubes.

The candy bar & desserts were truly the showstopper.  There were all manner of candies and treats to be had along with a few non-edible treats like pencils & bubbles.  Stephanie is an amazing baker, so she created red velvet cake pops, cupcakes with colorful sprinkles, and 1-up mushroom & star cookies.  The cupcakes served as the cake & were decorated with 7 candles & cute laminated cupcake toppers.  Did I mention the chocolate fountain?  How about the frozen novelties?  Steph, I'm quite sure those kids had so much sugar that they crashed hard!

I also LOVED her idea of using a standalone wreath holder {she said it was purchased at Home Depot}to hold the goodie bags so valuable table space wasn't taken up by the empty bags.

Steph, thanks so much for letting me {and everyone else} share in Jackson's birthday.  I had so much fun helping brainstorm ideas, setting up & watching you work your magic.  You did an outstanding job!

Happy Birthday Jackson!!

I love it! I had a Mario part for my son a couple of years ago and was shocked at the lack of party fare available.

The hats are my favorite and I am going to feature the party on my blog!

So weird, I did the same with the mustaches for my sons 5th. Great idea for the games and hats. He wants one for his 9th again, the hats would be great with the mustaches this time. Thanks for the idea.
