Salty.

03 March 2010
It's amazing the things that make me happy.  Some days I catch myself smiling and almost want to kick my own ass for what put that smile on my face.  Sometimes it's Finnegan saying something outrageous.  Sometimes it's learning something new or a funny comment from one of you guys.

And sometimes it's salt.  Yes, salt.  I was giddy opening the package that arrived yesterday afternoon.

After I posted the recipe for the vanilla sea salt chocolate covered Oreos, it took off largely thanks to Rachel over at One Pretty Thing and Bridget's chocolate flavor of the month at Bake at 350.  I went over and took a longer look at the SaltWorks site because I pretty much decided that I had to have the Espresso Brava salt to take another quick try at the Oreos.

So, umm....

I *may* have gone slightly overboard.  I decided to go with the salt samplers because I just couldn't decide on one or two.  They are about the size of a shot glass, which is more than enough to get a good idea if you enjoy it or not.  I divided them up between the Fusion {flavored} and the Artisan.  Each set also came with three salt spoons and three salt cellars.

I can not wait to start trying them out, starting with those Oreos.

And then, on to this little guy.

I would love your suggestions of recipes to try that might best put these to the test!

{And while I wish that SaltWorks knew who I was and paid me in mountains of flavored salty goodness, this came right out of my very own bank account.  Thanks for the free shipping though!  Wait, everyone qualifies for that?  Awww hell.}

Murray River Sea Salt is delicious. They put use it as a finishing salt on the pizzas at Serious Pie, Tom Douglas' restaurant in Seattle. I picked some up at Pike's Market while I was out there.
I use it on all pizzas because it is the bomb! Also we are currently obsessed with Brocollini (or Brocolette or however you spell it). So I steam 'em, drizzle some olive oil and finish with the Murrays. Amazing.
