Trying Sushi for the First Time: Why My Sister Rocks

11 January 2010
So you know about the force to be reckoned with that is my sisters.  When Rachael said she wanted to try sushi, I jumped at the chance to go with her.  I thought, what could be better than hilarious and likely embarassing photos of my sister trying yumminess like this...

Yeah, go ahead you sushi haters... gag, run screaming from the room.  Whatevs.  It's deliciousness on a plate.

Where was I?  Oh yeah, embarassment of my beautiful sister.  We sat down at the restaurant and perused the menu, decided on some rolls and nigiri that sounded good to Rach.  And then the chopstick lesson began, which took a whole thirty seconds for her to master.  Damn, I guess there won't be any pics of her clumsily dropping something down the front of her.  Well there always is that first bite, it's never the taste that gets you, it's the texture.  And wait... a smile from Rach?  Crap, I guess I'm out of luck because aside from a slight wasabi incident {I swear I didn't realize that I had added that much!} she absolutely loved it.

And because I can't disappoint in the embarassing photos department, I give you my stepmom's first bite of sushi, Finn and his cheater chopsticks, and my husband making a hilarious sushi face, just for you.  If that doesn't say love I don't know what does.

Right now, I am so glad you didn't have a camera at my first sushi experience. I'm guessing I looked much worse than your stepmom when I was gagging on the Cali roll.

HA! Em, it was the Philly roll that you gagged on... cream cheese.

Loves loves loves the sushi but doesn't dare eat it until at least 200 miles have been traveled. Eating sushi in the boondocks is just wrong.

I love the pics and Finn!
