Little BLUE Pills & My New Bloggy BFF

Sarah... REALLY??? And what the heck is up with you people who are all "I got done with the Shred and then banged out 932 miles on the treadmill?"  It is highly entertaining to hear how such a diverse group is fairing when up against Jillian. Oh, and so

you know.... the rest of us on Team Follow Anita If You Think You're Going to Die are over there as well. I would raise my fist in the air to that one, but uh... I can't really move right now.

So yeah, Ash and I are going to be bloggy BFFs 4-evah.  I can even forgive the fact that she's a skinny girl.  Psshaaaw your 165.  Why then, why is she so dang special that I want to make her my bloggy BFF?  I give you the top 8 reasons.  {The top 10 is SOOOO last year.}

1. She doesn't twitter!  I don't twitter!  And while she's a former twit(terer) and I am a twitter virgin because I just.  don't.  freaking.  get.  it. we can still totally be friends.
2. And OMG.  Read THIS.  Then read THIS.
3. She's doing the September Shred with me and not rubbing it in my face that she's way better at it.
4. Her husband has a thing for the HOT SECRETARY look!  When I shouted this out, Dave simply said, "well, that is just common awesomeness."
5. What is not common awesomeness?  Pooping.  In the tub.  Just ask Dave.
6. She makes up words.  AWESOME AGAIN.
7. She has the cutest dang daughter, Sugarbaby that I want to hook up with Finnegan in like 20 years or so!
8. She's from Arkansas and well, I TOTALLY would have been the one to give Bill {also from Arkansas!} a BJ in the oval office if I had the opportunity.  Um yeah.  The Secret Service has just tagged my blog.   

So there you have it.  I am spitting in my hand and offering it to Ash to shake.  GO!  Go now!  It's ok, I know you still love me.  You can cheat.  Hit up Sugar Britches and say hola to the bloggy BFF.

Weekday Entertaining - Ice Cream & Baseball

 A few times a month we have friends over for dinner.  It's usually a different mix of people each time, but the one consistent factor is that dinner is relaxed.  It's all about friendship, good food, and laughter.  There are usually kids climbing off chairs to run and play, we're inevitably late serving dinner, and more often than not Monty is waiting with baited breath for a two year old's scrap of food to hit the floor.  It never really matters when you're amongst friends though, does it?

I love that because I stay home, I can offer a meal to a friend who has had a long day at work.  Or a pregnant friend who is exhausted.  Or friends who have been struggling financially.  Or friends who we haven't had time to hangout with.  Or just a friend who needs to know how much I appreciate them.  And really, sharing a meal with friends is something you can do even if you're working.

Dinner doesn't have to be fancy.  Everything for this menu was put together in advance and didn't take long to throw together.

• Salad with chopped green apple, dried cranberries, cashews and homemade poppy seed dressing (red onion, cider vinegar, sugar, honey, & olive oil blended in a blender, then add poppy seeds)
• Tomato, onion, and cucumber salad with vinagrette (Amy made this with fresh veggies from the garden!) 
• Summer fruit salad that Amanda made
• Orzo pasta salad (orzo pasta rinsed in cold water tossed with toasted pine nuts, chopped dried cherries, basil chiffinade, feta cheese, lemon juice, olive oil, salt & pepper)
• grilled turkey burger sliders with a spicy mayo (mayo, lemon juice, paprika, powdered garlic, & cayenne), guacamole (purchased pre-made at Costco!), cheddar, and bacon  

When dinner is followed by m&ms ice cream & baseball in the backyard.  Does it really matter what the menu was?

 

Lisey Moving to 'Tucky.

We moved my littlest sister Elise down to Kentucky a few weeks ago.  I was a big ole girl and cried my eyes out.  I was fine until we actually arrived at her dorm and it all became very very real.  Don't get me wrong, I'm SO happy and excited for her, but it just seems wrong that she's an adult.  Granted, she doesn't exactly act like an adult, but she is eighteen.

This post is really only for her, but to let y'all in on the joke, when I was VERY pregnant with Finnegan, Elise went to Florida for spring break.  She came home and every single picture (of which there are at least 100) had Elise and her friend in some version of the kissy face and/or peace sign flashing.  Did I mention that she took ALL of these photos of herself... like with her arm out taking pics of herself?  How does someone come home from a week on the beach in Florida with not one picture of the beach?? 

So into the hospital I go for my c-section (because I had a GIANT baby) and Elise's mom was my OB nurse and she shows all of these pics to me and we laugh hysterically.  So assholes that we are... Dave and I take this photo to give to Elise and we find ourselves extremely amusing.

Which brings me back to moving her to Kentucky.  We decided the trip wouldn't be complete with out these my sweet Lisey...

And not to be outdone by his Mama & Daddy... He's working on it...

I hope you're enjoying your new found freedom and that you're sort of keeping your room clean.  Hopefully after that first time, you've gotten doing laundry down and you're enjoying the DZs.  There is so much you're going to learn and discover about yourself these next four years Elise Noel.  I am so very proud of you and can not wait to see you this weekend.

PS.  I'm totally not going to cry (much) when you have to go back.
