F is For Facebook + Fertility + Free Printable

Happy Thursday y'all.

I have lots to tell you, but first...

Want to join?  I promise not to annoy the hell out of you with Farmville {who DOES that?} and/or share my addiction of Family Feud.  It'll only be quality annoyances like updates on the blog and/or fun things I come across and want to share with you.  Click here.  Come sit at my lunch table.  It's just me over there and I'm lonely.  All the cool kids are doing it.

Next up, a sneak peek at Finn's big boy room...

I am *thisclose* to finishing it up.  The wall color stayed the same because we love it, which also means easy.  The last item, a fantastic $35 Craigslist find that needed a lot of attention.  I'll have it for you in detail next week.  I can't wait!  It is such a cool space now even though I cried packing up all of Finn's baby things.

See the cute little number picture?  I made it {and I use that term lightly} in 2.4 seconds and you can download it from my Scribd account in the classic colors seen above or a little bit of a girlie version as well.

Also next week?  My family arrives for it's yearly pilgrimage to the Ann Arbor Art Fair.  I have a big family dinner planned for Wednesday, I'll share the menu + recipes with you, of course.

My appointment with the Reproductive Endo was awesome.  He recommended a different drug and had high hopes that numero dos will indeed at some point make his or her appearance and that all is not lost in the hope department.  If you click to the wiki article, skip right on past the breast cancer stuff to the off label uses, bonus is that the side effects are supposed to be a lot easier to handle.  Fingers crossed peeps.  Fingers crossed.

Oh, and the bathroom?  You know the one we started in March?  Yep, that one.  It's finally getting wrapped up as well.  Why is it that my husband can tear out walls, have them back up, things tiled, and installed all in a week, yet the trim pieces take three months?  I do not know the answer to that, but if you do, let me in on the secret.  I'm practicing patience.

What else do I need to do in the next few days?  Finish up my book club reading, get to the gym, and clean this wreck of a house.

I hope your Thursday is fabulous.

Memorial Day Cupcake Topper Idea

15 May 2010 | 15 Comments

I pretty much love anything vintage.  It might mean that I should have been a 1950s housewife if for only that pesky thing called the internet that I would miss dearly.  And color tv.  And printers.  And pretty much every modern applicance.

So back to that vintage love... did you know that there are tons of government posters that are in the public domain?  My favorites are the WWII posters.  There are reminders that you should plant a victory garden, not to reveal troop movements {Loose Lips Sink Ships!} when you get letters from your soldier, for women to get to work, or to buy war bonds.  Often the posters are colorful and graphic.

I was perusing some and thought of how CUTE they would be as cupcake toppers for a vintage memorial day picnic.  I already have these cute Stay-Put tablecloths in a cute red & white gingham.  I'm thinking mason jars filled with lemonade, grilled hot dogs & hamburgers, thick slices of watermelon, & hand cranked ice cream.  Don't forget the yummy cupcakes topped with these cute posters celebrating all the ways YOU can help your troops.

I think our grandmothers would really get a kick out of these.  All three of them recount stories of the war, rationed items, and how they looked for {and often found} fun during a scary time.  My Meme spent part of the war hopping on a train to California to live with her girlfriends, she figured she might as well since all the boys were gone from her town.  Dave's Oma talks about how shopkeepers would sneak little pats of chocolate or other rationed luxuries to her as she was picking up packages for her mother or how they would 'paint on' lines to make it look like they had stockings on.

If you are interested, you can download the four that I used here at my scribd account.  If you're interested in finding other war posters, a quick google search will yield hundreds from Uncle Sam to Can Your Veggies.

Random Acts of Kindness Cards {FREE Printable}

16 April 2010 | 9 Comments

I made up these sweet little cards to go with items we'll be leaving for people to find.  We bought some scratch off lotto tickets, we're leaving quarters on vending machines, soap in the laundromat, and more so we thought it best to let people know it's ok for them to take whatever we're leaving tucked places.

By the way, did you know a laundromat used to be called a washateria?  Random fun fact from Dave.

So, if you're joining me in the random {and not so random} gift giving, you can download absolutely FREE for your personal use.

And if you haven't done so already... get over and ENTER the giveaway... you have until midnight (Eastern time) to enter!  And be sure to stop back Saturday morning to see the winner & leave comments about your random acts!

Free Printable {Red & Pink} Cupcake Toppers

22 March 2010 | 12 Comments

Continuing with my 29 days of giving and today, YOU are the recipient!  The cupcake toppers I designed for Meme & Judy's birthday can be found right here on my scribd account.  There are three designs in reds & pinks for you to use at your own parties.  Print on heavy cardstock, then either cut them out or use a 2" punch... I used the Fiskars XL punch and holy mother, I will not go back to cutting ever again.  {I am putting the scalloped circle & square on my wish list.  Hint, hint Mom!}  Then, glue them back to back on sucker sticks. {You can find these at Michael's or sometimes at the supermarket.}  Couldn't be easier!

I would be happy to have you to download & use as you'd like, please link back to {So Wonderful, So Marvelous} if you post elsewhere.  Feel free to email links or photos to me, I would love to see how you used these!

Enjoy!
