The Giant Day of Suck & Necessary Cures

14 September 2009 | 5 Comments
Today was the giant day of SUCK.  Not for any reason in particular.  Just for a million tiny ones.  You know that day when you hate to even breathe the words, "if ONE more thing goes wrong, I will scream," because u know that you will be screaming the very next moment.  I digress.... to illustrate that, did you see that assinine "u" sitting over there in place of a you?  Double Ewe Tea Eff.  I don't even do that when texting the 18 year old sister, but for some unknown reason I typed it and there it will lie because I am not going back to fix it.

Right.  Back to the day of SUCK.  So it begins last night when I decide not to Shred.  That's right.  I skipped a day because I could not bring myself to do it.  I have yet to tell the girls over at September Shred, but I will.  So I decide I am going to take an Advil PM because I wanted to get some good sleep and Jimminy Cricket is living in our basement and Dave can't find him so he makes all kinds of freaking noise at 2 am which as of late is my bedtime.  No one else in this house cares about Jimminy because they're all SLEEPING and Dexter the Wonder Cat obviously would sit on his fat cat ass instead of doing his JOB.  Anywho, this morning I wake up to Finnegan talking about something and I'm not really paying too much attention because I think that Dave is up with him.  Well, it's Monday and I don't realize it until FIFTEEN minutes later when Dave doesn't come jump back into bed with me or start brewing coffee that he is indeed at work, you know, because it's MONDAY.

I'm not going to get into all the nitty gritty of short naps, a crazy 2 year old, making black bean nachos for dinner because I couldn't think of anything more creative, a late husband, blog block, and the fact that my house is a mess and I'm hosting a party tomorrow that my mother in law is attending, my mother aka: Joan Crawford of clean, as are a few friends who have not been to my house before.   So yeah.  One of those days.  The more I talk about it, the more I beget more weird shit happening so I am stopping now and telling you what fixed it.

Even now as I am typing, it's playing in the background, I'm laughing.  It's amazing how when you leave it to the radio gods to fix your shitty day, they bring it.  Big time.  Incidentally, I knew a 6' 4" Belgian full of muscles, but he was from Antwerp not Brussels.

Take a look at the rest of my goodness...

The last tea roses of summer holding on for dear life.  Yummy beer bread cooling on the kitchen window sill.  Finnegan's soccer socks.  All of my Tastefully Simple dips ready to be made for tomorrow's party with Noelle.  A Starbuck's pumpkin latte courtesy of my most excellent husband.  And last, but certainly not least, my Nanny Goats in Panties pen now living on my fridge!

So what's your cure for a Giant Day of Suck?

Goodness.

Miss Annabelle is coming home!

I am kicking all kinds of Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred ass.  Come over and check out the fun right here!  Be sure to leave a comment and say hi!

Dave's good friend James arrived this afternoon in true James style ("Dude, I'm in Indiana and will be there in a couple hours") and I am sure craziness will ensue this evening.  The best way I can describe him is, so incredibly intelligent, but you would have no clue since he acts like a lunatic most of the time.  He insists on calling Finnegan "F James" since he is his namesake.  It has been a year since we saw him last and he's been sorely missed.

I won a bet with Dave and I get a half hour massage!

I got this incredibly soft, warm, snuggly new robe from Target... bring on the chilly fall mornings my friends!  It is the softest sweater material and I'm all about the grey.  Get your own before the word is out and they're all gone!

So yep, goodness all around people!  Happy Weekend!

Lovies.

Monkey, Ted, Little Monkey, and Bookie.  Finn is attached.  So attached in fact, that we thought it best to have a backup of Bookie, pronounced Boo Key for those not in the know.

Bookie was an amazing baby shower gift from Annie.  She got it from her friend in Columbus who owns a FABULOUS company called Bella Blankies.  Bookie is a Bella Mini Blanket, though she doesn't have that exact style listed on her website anymore, she willingly made an exact replica for us.  He also has the Bella Nap Blankie with satin ruffle that he sleeps with, but it's no Bookie in Finn's eyes.  I can not recommend her work highly enough and this is on my list of great shower gifts.

Ted was a gift from my mom when she found out I was pregnant she bought this adorable handmade bear on a trip to Florida.  I am panicked at the thought of something happening to Ted.  He is made with vintage fabrics and he's pieced together so delicately on the front side and is all one piece on the back.  My mother in law has already had to do "emergency" surgery on him, repairing a hole in Ted's neck.  It was touch and go for awile there, but he's going to make it.  We're just reeeeeallly careful with him, especially after an incident where I almost left him on Finn's first airplane ride.

Monkey came from 3 Monkeys in Portland, Oregon.  He was a gift to me from my mom a few Christmases ago and the little bug became very attached so now he lives in Finnegan's room.

Little Monkey (alternately called GREEN Monkey when we brought him home... yes, the little red one) was one of those gift card holders at Barnes & Nobel.  Finnegan spotted him in the store and immediately wanted to take him home.  So, home he came.

So these are the lovies that live in our home.  Each one special, a confidante, a snuggle buddy, a comfort, a joy.  Each irreplaceable in his little two year old mind.

What lovies live in YOUR home?

Prayers for Annabelle.

Annabelle is going in to have her neuroblastoma tumor removed at 2:15 pm.  Please say a prayer for her.  Send supportive, strength filled thoughts to her parents Jon & Nicole.  Send prayers to her medical staff that they have the healing power to remove every last bit.  Please.  She means the world to her family, to our family, to everyone she meets.  And if you are so inclined, there is a Facebook group called Annabelle's FAITH.
{Finnegan can't WAIT to give you more football tackles hugs when you're all healed.}

**{UPDATE:  As of Wednesday afternoon Miss Annabelle is resting comfortably in the ICU.  They will probably keep her asleep for at least another day or two.  The doctors think that they got everything out & we will be awaiting preliminary pathology results at the end of this week or early next week.  Please continue praying that the mass is all dead cells & that Annabelle has a quick recovery.  THANK YOU so much for your well wishes and continued prayers.}**

**{UPDATE #2:  As of Thursday night Miss Annabelle has been moved out of ICU, onto the oncology floor, the chest tube is out, she is awake, and has one IV left to be taken out!  This little munchkin is a miracle, she is unstoppable, she is AMAZING!  Jon & Nikki are able to hold her and she is chatting up a storm.  Happy happy day!  Continue your prayers please.}**

**{UPDATE #3:  She is UNREAL this little miracle!  Here it is Friday afternoon and she is RUNNING, better than that... she is coming HOME!  Neuroblastoma has nothing on this beautiful, amazing little girl.  Jon says the incision looks pretty intense, it is a C shape from her armpit across her abdomen, but she isn't letting anything hold her back.  She has a fire under her butt and she is ready to go home!  I just want to say THANK YOU SO MUCH from the bottom of my heart to everyone that sent prayers and healing thoughts her way.  I can't even begin to tell you the good it has done for our wonderfully amazing, unbelievably STRONG friends and their beautiful little girl.  Small miracles.}**
